Here we feature Ocala news. Not surprisingly, we begin with our personal blog, rated among the top two Realtor written blogs in Florida by feedspot.com. We also feature local news of a general nature, business news and sports. Then we add national and world news to complete the picture. Of course, we draw news from various RSS feeds. But we’ve made a special effort to select fair and balanced sources.

The meaning of balance and fairness as defined by the Online News Association

“Balance and fairness are classic buzzwords of journalism ethics: In objective journalism, stories must be balanced in the sense of attempting to present all sides of a story. To be sure, fairness means that a journalist should strive for accuracy and truth in reporting, and not slant a story so a reader draws the reporter’s desired conclusion.

Some critics argue that journalists never succeed in being completely balanced and fair. This is because in telling all sides of a story, they unavoidably allow some personal bias to creep in. Unfortunately, news coverage often represents the voices of those only on both extremes of the spectrum or voices of those who are the most powerful.”¹ Therefore, we present one source that counters this trend. It tells stories in three forms, the extreme right view, the extreme left view, and the center. In so doing, it offers an interesting perspective few news sources present.

Often what is fair and balance is in the eye or ear of the beholder. However, we salute journalists who try to report in a fair and balance manor, whether they ultimately attain that holly grail of journalism or not.
